FAQ
When is the best time of day to do photos?
This is subjective to your day’s layout and the time of year but the best time to do photos are to plan to have the couple photos during two hours before dusk and as the sun is going down. This will allow for the best chances to have the best light of the day.
Why should I choose David Buck Photography?
Our care for quality wedding photos will give you images you will cherish for a lifetime. When you think of the images you love the most it is usually because you have a connection to those photos. You want to remember your husband or wife’s smile, the way you looked when you came through those doors or stood at the alter looking back at your beautiful bride for the first time arrayed in white. I believe you want to look back through your photos and see things that happened that you didn’t notice, like the look of pride on your father’s face as he walked you down the isle. I want to capture your moments and deliver them to you in an elegant style you will want to look at time and time again for the next 50 years.
There are many different styles of wedding photography and I believe most of them have their place, but it is up to the bride to decide what she likes. You have to make sure that you like the style of the photography of your photographer. Our style of wedding photography focuses on the bride and groom. I want to build a relationship with my clients and help them to feel comfortable, relaxed and calm during their wedding so they aren’t worrying about this or that but are focusing on the love they have for one another. How you get real emotions in images is for your subjects to have real emotions. I know that sounds obvious but many people forget that when they are in front of or are holding a camera.
We take great care to cover the day from start to finish and when we deliver your product we aim to tell your story including things which you expect to see at a wedding, as well as show you the emotion and interactions of the guests and members of your wedding. This day is such a memorable day for everyone there and we want you to look back at your images 20 years from now and remember how you felt at that perfect moment.
Do I get a DVD of images?
Yes, you have the choice between a DVD of high res images or proofs done in 4×6 metallic prints.
What is metallic photo paper?
specifically it is called Kodak Endura Metallic photographic paper and it gives more of a glowing look to your images through the chemistry in the paper. As far as I’m concerned it is the best choice to have your photos printed on.
Do you shoot RAW or Jpeg, digital or film?
I shoot digital in RAW format which gives me excellent control over the images of your wedding.
How many hours do I need?
All day will cover from when you and I decide the start time until the end or near the end of the reception.
8 will cover getting ready, ceremony, formal, couple and some of the reception
6 will cover getting ready or reception, ceremony, formal and couple
Give me a call or write me an email and we can discuss the specifics of your needs.
Do you shoot with an assistant or second photographer?
I shoot with an assistant who helps me most of the day and is a second shooter during the most necessary moments.
Do you do shoot weddings as a full time profession?
Yes, shooting weddings is my full time profession and my passion. When I am not shooting on the wedding day I am working on the images that will soon be delivered to my clients. I specialize in wedding photography because it is a skill all on it’s own and my attention is focused on the brides who have entrusted me to capture their incredible day.
What makes your albums different?
These albums are individually designed, made in Italy with real Italian leather and are the most beautiful albums I have seen. The pages are Kodak metallic photo paper (other options available) and they have an assortment of beautiful covers which make these albums stand apart from any others. If you’d like to see some samples in person i’d be happy to arrange a meeting where I can get together with you and show them to you.
Where do you get your photographs printed?
All the prints which come out of my studio are done by a combination of professional state of the art studios located in the U.S. and Canada. I select the best resulting Print shop for each specific result depending on the desired product. For instance there is a company who specializes in canvas prints, and another which specializes in color printing. I do not use only one company.
Where is the best place to take my pictures?
This is individual depending on the desires of the bride and groom. I do not use “canned” locations where I take all my clients to as each bride and groom may want something a little different. Some have access to a beautiful property with acreage, barns and horses, some love images in the city or in the park. During our consultation I find out your desires and what kind of images you would like and once you have decided on hiring me for your wedding I go out and scout the location either that you have decided on, or go and find what it is I’m looking for to give you what you desire. Some times it may be a popular photo spot, some times it doesn’t seem like much at all. Because I travel all over and shoot weddings I use what is available and what works with your wedding day to get the most beautiful pictures possible.
Do you have a studio or indoor photo location in case it rains?
Because I shoot in many different locations I do not have a studio. However I do always make secondary arrangements just in case the rain falls.
How does the process work to meet, and to book you for my wedding?
We will make arrangements where we can get together and discuss your wants and needs in a photographer and to answer any questions you may have. Once you have decided to book us we request a $500 deposit and a signed contract to secure the date of your wedding. I will then be in contact with you several times between then and the wedding day to see if you have any questions and to answer any concerns you may have. I know that planning a wedding is a stressful time and I will do all that I can to help from my end. Once you get your proofs and have looked through them, you can either tell me which photos you would like in the album, give me a selection of the proofs to be put in (which you would get back) or if you can’t decide, tell me to choose which ones will go in. If you ever have any questions or concerns I’m only an email or phone call away.
