Some of my favourite weddings that we have attended and captured have been casual, laidback events held on a quiet beach or a friend or family member’s property. Therefore, this Northern Ontario wedding that took place at the groom’s family cottage was the perfect setting to take stunning images of the newlyweds. Across from the quaint summer home was a private beach area where the couple exchanged vows. The ceremony was romantic and intimate with only the closest friends and family members as witnesses. As they stood under the manmade arbor that backed onto a gorgeous, sparkling lake, these two said I do and officially became husband and wife. The combination of the sand on the ground, the waves from boats passing by, and the sun reflecting off the water, created a breathtaking, private oasis for a dreamy ceremony.
In order to capture the elements of this cottage venue, I wanted to get a photo from a different perspective. It is not unusual for me to take off my shoes and wander barefoot into knee-deep waters in order to get the perfect shot. I was very happy with the image I was able to create, incorporating the ceremony location and the bride and groom reflected perfectly in the calm water.1/400; f/4.0; ISO 50; 24.0 mm.
