When I walk into a venue, my eye immediately looks for elements of the room that will make for interesting and unique shots. When capturing formal wedding photos indoors, it is important to use components such as eye-catching furniture and décor to your advantage and find ways to incorporate these aspects, while featuring and focusing on a bride and groom in the shot.
The Markham Hilton in Toronto, Ontario was not a disappointment when it came to indoor photo opportunities. This venue is filled with glamorous design and one-of-a-kind architecture that made for unlimited unique shots. In this particular picture of the happy bride and groom, I noticed that a couch in the main hotel lobby was set next to an abstract-looking shelf with steel bars creating a cage-like effect. I decided to take the shot looking through the artwork as opposed to having it in the background. Doing this made the foreground of the picture much more interesting and gave a different perspective of the married couple. Another part of this image that sets it apart from the rest is the reflection of the steel bars on the smooth marble stone. Reflections are always a great detail to look for when searching for different photo locations.
